For the past three or four years, I've mainly played it safe as far as forum signature and desktop wallpaper design goes by citing my resources and mainly using artwork from the big name artists like Yoshiyuki Sadamoto for Evangelion, Rin-shin for Ikkitousen, and so on. In other words, I'd mainly manipulate the official/promotional images to avoid the potential problems with using fan art, especially the dreaded conversation with a traditional artist who either doesn't understand or sees no merit in photo-manipulation. So far I've been pretty good about that in terms of not having those issues either with traditional artists or DeviantART staff.
But, I'm kinda running out of material to work with, so I'm going to take a significant risk and start using things that I see on Gelbooru which pretty much hosts a lot of artwork from artists on Pixiv.net. As usual, I claim nothing in terms of illustrating or 3D modeling because, frankly, I suck at both of those fields at the moment. Ever see my Kan'u sketch/drawling from a year or two ago? Yeah. Chances are that my drawling skill will not increase beyond that, mostly because drawing is more work than fun for me. So, kudos to those who can actually draw. You will totally be credited if I end up using your work along with the C4D, brushes and stock images I use.
As for 4K resolution, or, well, rather anything past 1080p: On one hand, it would be great to stay up to date with whatever the most popular resolution is as that I along with other artists of similar craft can get their wallpapers on as many screens as possible. But unfortunately the other hand is that the C4D, brushes, and even some of the original character drawings are only so big, so the larger canvas does limit how many wallpapers I can design. So, who knows? Maybe the resources will get big enough to work with in 4K. Maybe I'll get the skills to produce my own C4D renders, brushes and maybe even get better at drawling and my new stuff will be 100% original. Or I'll just fade away from DeviantART and focus on AMVs as my artistic release, even if the AnimeMusicVideos.org community can be a little, pretentious, as a nice way of putting it. (Unhelpful anonymous douchebag asshole being the mean way.) So, we'll see where that goes.
And lastly, I still don't take requests. Tried it once, didn't look super great, and took me forever to do, so I'm still sticking to doing things on a 'when I feel like it' basis because my best work usually comes out of that mindset. I'm putting working with Ikkitousen, both the AMV and wallpapers on hold for a little while because I've been working with it for four years straight and I'm getting a little tired of looking at it from a design perspective. And, as usual, thanks for the watches, favorites and views. The meme is old but I would like to say that I have over 9,000 views, though 8.4K is pretty awesome given that just I put these things together to share with fans of the shows I like with no intention of being super popular.
So, until next time. I've got six months of premium membership left so I may continue to abuse it every once in a while with a dumb poll.
'Cause fuck it.
